Major General Dan York (Ret.) is one of America's most decorated and respected Special Forces leaders. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he rose through the ranks of the U.S. Army Special Forces community, commanding at every level from detachment to theater. He served as the Chief of Staff of U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he was responsible for the readiness, training, and strategic direction of the Army's entire special operations enterprise. General York's operational record includes multiple combat deployments across multiple theaters, leading unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, and direct action missions in environments where the margin for error was zero. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and holds advanced degrees in strategic leadership. His awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal with Valor device, and numerous other commendations for valor and meritorious service. Since retiring from active duty, General York has dedicated himself to leadership development — working with executives, organizations, and programs like Warrior X to pass on the hard-won lessons of a lifetime spent leading America's most elite warriors.
